What it teaches

The SQL an analyst writes every day: filtering (WHERE, NULL), counting and grouping (GROUP BY, HAVING), joins (including the LEFT JOIN traps that silently drop or double rows), and the patterns interviews and real work ask for (CASE, subqueries, CTEs, ROW_NUMBER / RANK, running totals). The AI asks 3 questions, places you, then gives you one task at a time against a small fixed shop database, checks your query’s result row by row, and makes you redo what you got wrong.

How long

2-4 short sessions. 66 questions in all (45 exercises, 21 concept questions), plus 13 in optional M4 (9 exercises, 4 concept); you’ll see most of them. Then a 10-item final test. The tutor gives a one-line save code at the end of each session; paste it into a new chat to carry on.

  3. M2

    JOINs

    Write a query / read a query / concept

  4. M3

Analyst patterns (CASE, subqueries, CTEs, window functions)

    Write a query / read a query / concept

  5. M4

Set operations, self joins, FULL OUTER JOINoptional

    Write a query / read a query / concept

Before it teaches, it asks

  1. 1
What do you need SQL for (job, interview, a class)? Which database do you use or will use, if you know (Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, BigQuery, Snowflake, SQLite, no idea)? Can you run queries somewhere right now? And what trips you up most, if anything?
    AI voice (ElevenLabs)
  2. 2
Write a query: the names of every customer in Austin.
  3. 3
Write a query: how many orders each customer_id has.

What’s exact, and what isn’t

Show

Straight from the course’s own notes.

Exact
Every expected result, “also right” query and trap result was produced by running the query on SQLite 3.43 (M0-M3, 2026-10-08) and SQLite 3.53.0 (M4, 2026-10-09). The tutor grades by result rows, not by matching your text, so any correct query scores.
Judgment
When your query isn’t one the key lists, the AI traces it by hand against the data. It shows its row counts on a Check: line so you can see its work, and it won’t mark you wrong without naming the row that differs. If you can run SQL, paste your result and the database wins.
Not in it yet
Writing data (INSERT/UPDATE), creating tables, indexes and performance, a specific database’s extras.
